COMPUTER SCIENCES CORPORATION AND HITACHI FORM STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) and
Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) today announced they have formed a long-term strategic
alliance to offer current and future customers of Hitachi leading-edge information
technology (I/T) systems and services in Japan.

Under the alliance, CSC and Hitachi will collaborate to provide I/T systems and
services incorporating world-class business practices, enabling customers to compete
more effectively on a global basis.

The alliance will primarily support large projects, such as those resulting from the
mergers of financial institutions. CSC and Hitachi will take advantage of the synergetic
effect of using both companies' I/T technology and consulting capabilities to respond to
customers' needs with total, comprehensive global solutions. The alliance will also form
the necessary organization to support clients' end users.

"Japanese companies and public sectors have a pressing need to globalize their
I/T systems," said Etsuhiko Shoyama, president and director of Hitachi. "Hitachi has
been preparing its systems integration capability to meet customers' requirements of this
global age. In order to expedite our drive to expand our capabilities further, we decided
to collaborate with CSC, a leading I/T services firm in the U.S., which has advanced total
solutions expertise and know-how. We are confident we will be able to provide more
advanced I/T services to our customers faster through this alliance between CSC and
                      Hitachi."

"CSC has a proud legacy of helping our clients achieve their goals by delivering
highly effective, complex information systems on a global basis," said Van B. Honeycutt,
chairman, president and chief executive officer of CSC. "We have formed numerous
successful alliances with some of the world's leading companies, and we're pleased at
this opportunity to help Hitachi provide superior business solutions to their customers."
